Kenworth Now Offers Hollands New Lightweight FW17 Fifth Wheel

Muskegon, MI - November 10, 2004 - Kenworth has announced it is now offering selected Holland FW17 Series fifth wheels on its on-highway Class 7 and 8 truck models.  Available with both stationary and sliding mounting brackets, the FW17 leads the way in innovative and “industry-demanded” features and benefits.

First, the FW17 is the lightest fifth wheel in the market today, up to 16% lighter than comparable competitive products and 23% (44 lbs.) lighter than a standard Holland fifth wheel.  “Increased vehicle payload capacity and fuel efficiency becomes more important on an almost daily basis as fuel costs and emission control components weights continue to climb,” said Ron Froese, Holland’s Kenworth Account Manager. The new FW17 fifth wheel series is recommended for up to 95,000-pound GCW, 5-axle on-highway applications and is rated for up to a 50,000-pound vertical load.
Second, Holland stands behind its new fifth wheel with a 5-year/500,000 mile performance guarantee.  “While almost all fifth wheel manufacturers offer a standard material and workmanship guarantee that generally covers component defects and failures, Holland is the only one to offer a ‘Performance Guarantee’ that ensures your fifth wheel will remain adjustable-not wear out-for 5-years or 500,000 miles.  In other words, if your fifth wheel requires lock replacement or lock mechanism rebuilding due to normal wear and tear - Holland covers it,” said Mike Ginocchio, Holland Fifth Wheel Product Manager.
“Through the use of leading edge steel casting technology and by constantly striving to lead the industry in innovative fifth wheel products, Holland can now offer its recognized strength, reliability, and durability with a substantial weight reduction and at a very attractive price” said Scott Fowler, Holland Fifth Wheel Director.
